Back home at last

Dad is finally home at last **does a happy dance**
In total dad spent 10 very long and unpredictable weeks in hospital after he fell and broke his hip back in April

The outpouring of love from people all over the world asking after dad and wishing him well has been absolutely staggering, I read every message, email and comment to dad whilst he was in hospital and I'm sure it's this outpouring of love that helped my dad to fight and make it through some very dark times

Image Description - The day Andy Awford ex player and manager of Portsmouth FC came to visit dad in hospital and really made his day, it was also the day I discovered just how much trivia dad knows about football. Dad is sitting in a hospital ward on a blue chair beside his bed, Andy is sitting on the right hand side of the frame and both are looking at the camera smiling
Not knowing that many of my dad's friends and acquaintances anymore I joined the local facebook group in my old home town, I shared what had happened and why dad hadn't been seen out and about for a while on his regular morning walk to Tesco's for the daily papers

All my life people have joked that everybody knows Dave Hart, the response and out pouring of love towards my dad on that single facebook post has shown me that dad certainly does know one heck of a lot of people, so many comments on dads kindness and generousity of spirit to help others and how he always sees the good in people, dad has touched so many lives, it was very humbling to see what I've always known about my dad being put into writing by others

My 82 year old dad at home and sitting in his favourite armchair, he's looking really happy and healthy now he's gained some weight back as he smiles at the camera

We're so glad that dad has rallied enough to come home at last with the support of a live-in carer, dad's also started to regain some of the massive amount of weight he lost in hospital, with the help of his physio and a walking frame dad can now walk into the the kitchen and back, we even took a very short and slow walk into the garden yesterday and the first thing dad said when he saw his beloved garden was that the grass needed cutting lol

Dad still has a long road to get his mobility back to what it was before his fall, but with dad's determination to get this far when things looked so bleak I'm sure it won't be as long as the doctors predict before dad's back out and about pounding the streets of his home town once more and saying hello to everyone he meets

In other news we're having a mini heat wave here in the UK at the moment, so it's been very early morning walks for the dogs to avoid the hottest part of the day and not much else except going to mum and dads each day

Having a live-in carer was supposed to make life easier with less running around for me, but unfortunately it's proving to be quite the opposite, but that's another story for another day...

Hopefully next time it won't be so long between posts
