Eko's excited it's training day today, it's been a few weeks since we were last able to attend, if there's one thing Eko loves above all else it's learning new things
This past year or so has seen a massive change from what this account originally started out as, to log Badger Boo's daft adventures and then Boris's life as my assistance dog
Image Description - Eko the Golden Cocker Spaniel looking up at the camera as I look down on him as he stands on a woodland path, his face looks very cheeky as he's in the mood to play as I recall |
I hadn't realised just how much stress I'd been under trying to keep everything in order until I had someone start to live- in at my parents to help out
Caring for elderly parents is not an easy task, it's all consuming and comes with a lot of challenges, especially when your own health isn't that great to start with, plus there's no such thing as a day off
Unless someone has actually been there hands on caring for parents or a loved one that's chronically ill it's just too hard to explain why I can't just take time off for myself whenever I feel like it, but I'm so grateful for the few hours here and there where I can just switch off and focus on doing things we enjoy with my gorgeous boys
I hope everyone is keeping well?

Gramma has had a lot of health issues the past few years. Mom spends Saturdays there if we don't have dog sports and while she loves it, it is a full day of work and then she only has one day off to do everything around here. She would not trade the day with Gramma for the world but it does take a lot of energy.
ReplyDeleteIt sure does and I'm sure your Gramma is most grateful for the help your mum gives here, I confess my own house is now a mess because I just don't have the time to do much these days xxx
DeleteYou hit the nail on the head, I'm going through the same thing. and people do not understand unless they've been there, which I think is true of many things, but particularly illness. Hang in there...
ReplyDeleteYou too, it's a tough time for sure xxx
DeleteI totally get it, been there, done that too. Nope, it sure isn't easy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie pie and I get the care of someone that needs constant care. Very hard and it seems that only one or two in a family will help while the rest won't. Sure would be easier if everyone pitched in.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. ♥
Thank you, yes so much easier if others helped out occasionally, my brother phones every day but lives in France so only visits a couple of times a year, but those daily phone calls make him the perfect son who does so much 🤦♀️
DeleteAdorable doggie ~ aging is not fun most times ~ and being a caregiver is exhausting for sure ~ lots of healing energy hugs for you ~

DeleteYes, I hear that dogs who are trained to help just love to work. I wish we could convince humans that this is the best way to go. Eko looks like a really good friend, too. Can't beat that! And he's such a cutie pie.
ReplyDeleteBoth mine have jobs to do around the house and they definitely thrive on being helpful xxx
