I recently ordered an InnoPet dog stroller for Boris as he's missing out on so much whilst he's on restricted exercise due to his elbow injury. To start with I set up in the garden with everything open and the brakes on so that Boris could get in and out of it under his own steam and explore it at his own pace, Boris soon made himself quite at home

Boris is crate trained so I wasn't at all worried about whether he'd get in or not, but I wanted Boris to feel safe and secure in it before I started pushing it around with Boris inside. Eko refused to be left out and just had to check it out too, especially as there was a chance of food on offer

I'm really glad I opted to get the larger 30kg sized stroller as I think the next size down would have been a bit too snug for Boris even though he only weighs 21kgs
Yesterday was the first time in absolutely ages that I was able to take Boris and Eko out for a long walk together since Boris injured his elbow. Purchasing the Innopet dog stroller for Boris has been a great decision and worked out better than I could have ever hoped for

Boris had a gentle stroll on lead at the start of our walk so he could take in all the scents and smells, then it was time to hop aboard so Eko could enjoy some free running time and off we went. I was a bit worried about how I'd manage without my crutches and pushing the stroller, but it actually made walking so much easier for me and we took it slow to start with so both Boris and I could get used to it
I was amazed at just how light and easy the stroller was to push along with Boris inside, at no time did it ever feel unsteady, even when walking down hill or over uneven terrain it never felt as if it was going to tip
Boris had a blast watching the world go by and often popped his head up through the sunroof to say hello to me, which kept making me laugh so he just kept doing it

After about 15 minutes Boris lay down and spent the rest of the walk just watching Eko and at one point I'm pretty sure he took a nap. Boris didn't seem at all bothered about not being able to charge around with Eko, although after all the weeks of restricted exercise I'm sure Boris was just glad to be out and about again enjoying the sights and sounds of the common
I thought Boris might try to get out when Eko spotted a puddle up ahead and charged into it to play, but surprisingly Boris just sat up and watched him whilst I then took another pathway to avoid the puddle and Boris settled back down again

Boris really enjoyed his first trip out in his stroller, I made it as comfortable as I could inside for Boris's injured elbow with several folded towels and a piece of vet bed. I'm now on the lookout for a small orthopedic mattress that will fit inside to make it that bit extra comfy for Boris's elbow, so if you know of anyone that sells small orthopedic pet mattresses do please let us know

It's made so much difference to Boris's mental well being, he seems so much more like his old self now that he's back seeing all the sights and scents out on walks, plus he gets some time out of the stroller too so he can have a short walk xxx
DeleteWOW, way to go Boris, that is some mighty fine ride!
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian, it's pretty good off road too and very stable xxx
DeleteGlad ya enjoyed it Boris!
ReplyDeleteThank you, he's really enjoying his trips out in his stroller, he also gets a short walk out of it so he can take in the sights and scents before we head out on the much longer walk for Eko xxx
DeleteIt's tough on everyone when one pup is injured and on restricted exercise. If the stroller works for you, that is great!
ReplyDeleteBoris has improved so much now that we're using the stroller less and less as we build up his strength and fitness back up, hoping he'll be allowed some freedom again when he has his 6 week check up at the end of the month 🤞xxx
DeleteI'm glad your mom makes sure you can still get out and enjoy the fresh air. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Thank you for hosting Sandee, being a retired assistance dog Boris found it quite stressful after his initial injury not being able to come out with us and having such short walks , the stroller was an ideal compromise so Boris could join in and he really took to it xxx
