We recently had a fabulous day out at Goodwoof for Dogs which was a lovely birthday surprise from my partner
It was great to be doing something just for us for a change. I can't remember the last time we were able to spend any real quality time together due to us each having parents that are so very unwell in totally different postcodes
Eko couldn't believe his eyes when we visited the Dog Barkitecture display and he spotted the perfect place to rest for dogs that adore tennis balls
The boys also really enjoyed visiting the Pets as Therapy stand
For a while now I've been debating whether Boris would enjoy being a PAT Dog, he has so much love to give and was always the star attraction when I attended our local day centre for the knitting group as my assistance dog before COVID and lockdown happened and his subsequent retirement
Although I'm not sure if Boris's arthritis would exclude him from becoming a PAT Dog and doing such a worthwhile job, so I tentatively asked the question
Although the person I spoke too couldn't give a definitive answer re his arthritis, I was advised to apply as Boris clearly loved meeting everyone and it would all depend on how the assessment process went
There's a lot to think about and I will approach the subject with Boris's vet before I even consider putting in an application for him
I did find the shopping side of things somewhat lacking, events like these for me are all about dog shopping and the show bargains you can pick up, although there was no shortage of food and coffee stands
But even without the shopping it was still a fantastic day out, there was just so much to see and do and we didn't spend a fortune enjoying ourselves
My partner is my absolute rock, I really don't know how I'd have got through this past year without his support, plus he always comes up with the very best birthday gifts

Yes, I can understand how dogs would love that tennis ball fort. Pet therapy work is a pretty big commitment, it might just keep Boris on the move though and give him more to look forward to. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are still full throttle with your Cocker Spaniels and Goodwoof Day looks perfect for them, if not you (I too would be disappointed without the shopping). My Izzi is with Badger Boo at the Rainbow Bridge reminiscing, no doubt, about all the good times they shared on line. Unlike you, we had to make the decision not to get another dog because of our age ... it would be unkind to have a pet though would outlive the people they loved. My granddaughter, however, has another Mini
ReplyDeleteAussie who is a barrel of energy named Maisy ... so she is my Granddoggie :) Be well, Dawn ...
