Happy Birthday Boris
🎂🎂🎂
It's hard to believe you're 7 already, the time has flown by, yet we've achieved so much together. Who'd have thought that naughty little puppy would grow up to become the most amazing assistance dog
You gave me back my confidence and you've kept me safe, together we've reclaimed my independence and with you by my side nothing has been impossible
We've traveled together, we've been to events and made so many new friends, my life is no longer lonely and empty. Your purple vest now gathers dust, like me you have good days and bad days, arthritis is a constant companion for the both of us now
You're only 7 and it's far too soon for you to be feeling this way, it breaks my heart whenever I see you moving so stiffly or limping
You try to hide it but I know it's there, you've seen the best vets in the UK, many options have been discussed for you to live your best pain free life moving forward, but your bad days are more frequent than your good days now and semi retirement is no longer an option
You don't understand as you gaze longingly at your purple vest each time I leave without you, it breaks my heart to leave you at home, but now I must do what's best for you
It's time to put your paws up and live the life of an average dog, no longer can you come everywhere with me, no longer can you enter where dogs aren't allowed, no longer are you Boris the Assistance Dog, but you'll always be my Superhero in a purple cape
Happy Retirement Boris

Oh Boris! What an amazing dog. So sorry to hear that he is in pain and has to retire at such a young age. I hope he will be comfortable for a few more years yet.
